New research from compare the market has analysed Civil Aviation Authority data to help travellers find the airports and airlines that will get them to their destination the quickest, allowing them to search and filter to find the best option for their next flight.
Edinburgh is the second worst airport in the UK for delays and cancellations – with 1% of its flights cancelled and average delays of 19.11 minutes.
Of 26 major airports surveyed, Edinburgh came second only to London Stansted.
In contrast, Aberdeen came out as the third best of for punctuality, with only 40.5% of flights being delayed or cancelled from the northern airport.

Edinburgh Airport‘s £25 million new security hall continues to cause delays to fliers in its first few months . It has six lanes compared with the previous 12, but the airport describes them as “high performance” because they separate passengers with bags that need manual searches.
Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson has become the latest high-profile passenger to criticise Edinburgh Airport delays at the security check-in .

An airport spokesman said: “Ruth clearly wasn’t happy with her experience through the security hall and we apologised for what she viewed as a bad experience. We take on board all passenger feedback as we continue to strive to improve the overall passenger journey throughout the terminal.”
